ANOTHER BLACK MAN DIES....

I originally was going to post one of my anecdotes, but I received a call from my first, today. He told me that he was off of work tomorrow unfortunately. Puzzled as to why he was off of work, "unfortunately".

"Why unfortunately?"

"I have to go to a funeral."

"Who passed?"

"Shay."

"Who?"

"Shay."

"Who?"

Now, irritated, "Shay!"

I thought that was what I heard the last 2 times but my mind didn't process it, my brain didn't want to process it.

"I thought I heard you say that, I didn't want to believe that. It was them same niggas wasn't it?"

"That's what everybody is thinking."

Shay was Tee's fine ass cousin. He came over my house once with Tee, their cousin Mikey, and one of my other friends from grammar school. Shay was so cool, a Stone(gang affliation), so he was a pretty boy, with braids, rocking red. Mmmmm, mmmm, mmm. Tee would always call Shay my boyfriend when referring to him. I told Tee how fine I thought Shay looked. I would sometimes joke with Tee and tell him that I wanted his cousin and ...him, together(only adding Tee so that he wouldn't feel that bad.) Now that I think about it, that wouldn't have been a bad idea, but Tee would never go for it. *LOL*

Last year, Shay almost lost his life. I was shocked to think anyone would try to kill Shay. Tee, my first, told me that Shay was in them streets heavy, "Don't be no fool."

Last year....
"Your boyfriend in the hospital."

"Who, my Shay Shay?"

"Yea, he was in his Burban in East Chicago, (Indiana) and a nigga just walked up to the driver's side of his truck and aired it out. Luckily, he had limo tint. He jumped in the back seat ,but dude couldn't see what he did, otherwise he would've aired the whole truck out. Him and dude in the backseat would've been dead. Shay said he watched the bullets blaze through the window from the backseat, as he emptied the entire clip and jogged away, not running, but jogging."

"Where he get shot, he okay?"

"He got shot in the leg and one went through his penis."

"Will his penis work again?!?" Like I was ever get some....

"Yea, he gone be all good. My grandma was making fun of his dick, cause it was swollen. She told him to take a picture of it and show the girls how big his dick is."

We started laughing. Then I got serious again.

"So what is Shay gone do, he need to leave that life alone, next time, he might not make it. I hope he not planning to retaliate."

"He said he gone move back to the city and get out of that neighborhood."

Fast forward....today.

"I thought he was leaving the hood? I knew this would happen. Sorry to hear about this. This is so sad."

"I thought he was too. But his ass went back."

Another fatherless child lost to this nonsense. I didn't really know Shay, but I feel sad. He is a prime example of this treacherous cycle in our community that are taking the lives of intelligent, beautiful, but misguided young males. Another male concerned with impressing a woman with fancy cars, rims, and nice clothes and jewelry, who went about the wrong way to make his paper. Putting his life on the line so he can shine. Obviously, he was doing too much business and had to be "taken offa'here".

Thankfully, Tee overcame his odds. I'm proud of Tee. Thankfully Tee his grandparents and his uncle. Otherwise...

I know why I have been ranting like this. Its because while I was trapped in the Matrix (corporate America), I really had no time to delve deep into my mind. I slept 8 hours, commuted 4 hours, worked 8 hours, which left me 4 hours a day just to do what I needed to fo to prepare for the next day at work.

Leaving my weekends the only time to get done what I couldn't get done during the week. (Grocery shopping, laundry, misc. shopping, and errands.) In between this time, I had to find time for myself and time for my son. I had My mind thinking of notihng more than trying to make ends meet, living check to check, hand to mouth, the only thing I could really concern myself with getting to and from work.. Thats the trick, they keep me busy, too busy to notice what's really going on around me. We turn a blind eye and continue making whitey his money, while we neglect our communities, as well as, ourselves, and our families.

I now have time to think about other things than pleasing whitey. I am grateful for this time off from whitey. Thanks whitey.

WOW....let's hope and pray that someone who knew him will use what he went through and the after effects to do more than what he did or could do....

whenever i hear this i am deeply saddened. there is simply no need for this kind of shit to be happening. i hope and pray that one day we will no longer be hearing about the senseless murdering of our black men (or anybody else for that matter).
